Where do you live?
Naples, Florida
How long have you been working for Simplecast?
September 2018
How long have you been podcasting?
I launched Mike Murphy Unplugged on September 25, 2015
What's your show about?
I teach people how to podcast and how to create online content.
What questions do you love getting from customers/what's your favorite thing to help customers with?
I’m a problem solver, so I love when customers have a technical issue that makes me think a little and do some troubleshooting. The reason I help people is for that moment when they discover their issue is fixed and they are happy and thankful.
What's one tip you wish you could give all podcasters?
Get close to the microphone and watch a couple of YouTube videos on mic technique.
What blog post/newsletter/youtube video/conference/etc has been the most helpful to you as a podcaster?
I attended Podfest Multimedia Expo when I first started and I became part of a community and learned invaluable podcasting tips and lessons. Attending live events, conferences, workshops, etc are worthwhile investments for podcasters.
Who or what inspired you to start podcasting?
Myself. I wanted a platform to teach and inspire other creatives and to document my journey of creating an online business. I had been listening to podcasts since 2005 and one day out of the blue I decided a solo podcast was the perfect fit. 30 days later I launched my first episode out of my bedroom studio.
What's your favorite podcast that you're listening to?
I enjoy How I Built This with Guy Raz by NPR. It’s a behind the scenes look at how popular businesses were built.
What are you most excited to see in the podcasting world in the next year?
I am excited for new creative formats and styles of podcasting that will push the boundaries of podcasting as more and more businesses and brands enter the podcast community. I am paying attention to short-form audio content for smart devices like Alexa as I enjoy quick and creative or educational bits of audio.
What was the last song that got stuck in your head?
Hallelujah
What skill are you trying to learn in 2019?
Adobe Character Animator
