Simplecast Team Spotlight: Ann

Take a look at those adorable dogs!

Where do you live?

Louisville, KY.

How long have you been working for Simplecast?

I've been working at Simplecast for a year and four months.

What was the first podcast you listened to?

Serial. A classic.

What's the last podcast you listened to?

F1: Beyond the Grid.

What's your favorite thing to help customers with? / What's your favorite thing to help people do with Simplecast?

I want users to know we really care about their experience – from support interactions to ease of use in the product. I know that sounds hokey, but the team who supports Simplecast is made of all real (great) people and that’s what we’re thinking about every day.

What's one tip you wish you could give all podcasters?

Trends in podcasting come and go (and come back again). Pick a direction and a subject that is meaningful to you, or pick a population that is underserved and find out what they want to hear about. Try and stay off the bandwagon.

What blog post/newsletter/youtube video/conference/etc has been the most inspiring or helpful to you?

Not traditionally inspirational, but this one. There is no hotter topic in my world right now than how we measure podcast success and the answer is murky, to say the least. I probably refer to this article, or articles like it, once a week.

Why did you start working in podcasting?

I knew people who worked for Simplecast and I wanted to work with them. I was just a casual podcast consumer until then. Shameful, but true!!!

What are you most excited to see in the podcasting world in the next year?

More underrepresented voices raised in the public consciousness.

What did you want to grow up to be when you were a little kid?

Alternated between fighter pilot and ballerina. Then doctor.

What skill are you trying to learn in 2022?

How to be more compassionate with myself.
